METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION

1. Description of the methods for collection/generation of data: 
150 worm individuals were placed in plastic containers with pure coconut fibre as inert material and fermented RO biomass from upwelling. Number of individuals, initial and final weigth was recorded. The trial was performed in triplicate.
Fermentation of biomass was performed as follows: 500 g of dried Rugulopteryx was placed in a container with 18 L of water (1168 microS/cm; pH 8.18; salt 0.8ppt), 90 g of sucrose (5%) and 25 g of fresh yeast. The container was sealed and fitted with a tube and placed in a bucket of water. The process was considered complete on the day when the tube stopped bubbling in the water (fermentation complete), which was around day 12.
